Dev Deepawali boat booking 2026

Watch the ghats light up with lakhs of diyas from your own boat on the Ganga. Private boats and sharing seats are open from Namo Ghat, with fixed prices and a free storyteller on board.

Why the Ganga is the best place to see Dev Deepawali

Dev Deepawali is celebrated on Kartik Purnima and is known as the Diwali of the Gods. On this night the ghats of Varanasi, from Assi to Raj Ghat, are lined with diyas, and the city turns into one long line of light. From the road or the ghat steps you see only a small part of it. From a boat on the river you see the whole curve of the ghats at once, the reflections in the water, and the Ganga Aarti with its lamps and chants.

Kashi Boat Tour is a family of boatmen who have worked from Namo Ghat for three to four decades. We run four boat types, so you can pick the one that fits your group and your budget. Every boat comes with a free storyteller who can explain the ghats and their legends as you pass them.

The night is crowded, and boats are limited. We suggest you decide your group size and boat type first, then message us the date. We reply on WhatsApp with availability and confirm your booking.

Dev Deepawali boat booking: common questions

When is Dev Deepawali 2026?

Dev Deepawali falls on Kartik Purnima. In 2026 our bookings are for 24 November. Please confirm the date with us on call before you plan your travel.

What is the difference between a private boat and a sharing seat?

A private booking gives your group the whole boat. A sharing seat is a per-person ticket on a boat shared with other guests. Sharing needs a minimum number of guests, shown in the price table above.

How early should I book a Dev Deepawali boat?

As early as you can. This is the busiest night of the year on the Ganga and boats fill up first. Send us your date, group size and boat type on WhatsApp and we confirm quickly.

Which boat is best for my group?

The open boat suits friends and small groups, the canopy boat suits families with elders and children, the bajra suits big groups up to 60, and the cruise suits large private groups up to 120.

Is a storyteller included?

Yes. A free storyteller comes with every boat and tells the stories behind the ghats at no extra cost.

What if the ride is stopped by weather or river restrictions?

If the river police or local administration stop boats because of high water or severe weather, we offer free rescheduling or a refund as per our policy.
