See the ghats wake up from the Ganga at dawn: morning prayers, bathers on the steps and the sun rising over the river. Fixed prices and a free storyteller on every boat.
Early morning is the quietest and most photographed hour in Varanasi. The light is soft, the river is calm, and the ghats are full of people at morning prayers and bathing.
Our morning window is 5:00 to 7:00 AM. You can start from Dashashwamedh Ghat, or ride between Namo Ghat and Assi Ghat in either direction. The longest route passes the 84 ghats over about 12 km, and a shorter 54-ghat route of about 9 km is also available.
A free storyteller comes with the boat and explains the ghats and their legends as you pass. Bring a camera and a light jacket, because it can be cool on the water in winter.
Open boat morning rides are listed here. Private means the full boat for your group.

The open boat is the usual choice for sunrise because the view is open on every side. For a covered boat for elders or children, a bigger group on a bajra, or a private cruise, ask us for a sunrise slot when you message us and we will tell you the price and availability. Our starting prices for these boats are in the table above and on the boats page.
